1.5.2. Build a project plan

Step by step!

Ensure you build the project plan into stages each with their own completion milestones.  Milestones can be used to ‘pause and reflect’ on the previous stage, learn lessons, review the risk plan, and review the next stage.

  • This is also a good time to celebrate achievements as you go along!

Projects can use the following planning layout:

  • Planning
  • Startup
  • Execution (including frequent milestone and risk plan reviews)
  • Delivery
  • Closedown (including After Action Review “How did it go?”)

You can use free online project planning templates to get started.
